About the role
Alcon is seeking a Senior Associate Controls Engineer to support the U.S. MTO team in Johns Creek, GA. The role focuses on ensuring effective communication between mechanical, electrical, and software elements of automated systems and improving manufacturing processes for contact lenses.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee planning and execution of control system designs, monitor performance, and ensure smooth automated processes.
- Test and analyze control systems for compliance with GMP/GXP procedures, functionality, and safety.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions, providing proactive problem‑solving to reduce downtime.
- Maintain and improve systems to enhance efficiency, user experience, and reduce downtime.
- Identify, design, and implement improvements to machines and processes related to contact lens manufacturing infrastructure.
- Participate in capital projects, managing internal resources and validation activities.
- Provide expert support to various organizations on key processes and execute continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Prepare documentation such as procedures, training materials, work instructions, and validation records.
- Offer periodic support outside normal hours, including on‑call rotation.
- Perform corrective and preventive actions identified through CAPAs, audits, and gap assessments.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (or high school + 10 years, Associate + 6 years, M.S. + 0 years).
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in controls engineering.
- Fluent English reading, writing, and communication skills.
- On‑site location in Johns Creek, GA; no travel or relocation required; no sponsorship assistance.
- Preferred experience with Siemens Step7 TIA portal and knowledge of Process Safety Management.
