Senior Accountant – Vacation Rental Portfolio (Remote)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a background in the vacation‑rental industry to join its remote team. You will lead client onboarding, refine accounting workflows, and ensure accurate financial reporting for short‑term rental businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Guide new clients through the setup of accounting systems and ensure smooth onboarding.
• Customize and streamline accounting processes for each vacation‑rental client.
• Prepare, review, and close month‑end financial statements and reconciliations.
• Work with vacation‑rental platforms such as property‑management systems, channel managers, and trust‑accounting tools.
• Maintain compliance with industry‑specific accounting standards.
• Identify and implement process improvements to scale accounting operations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance efficiency and client experience.
• Act as the subject‑matter expert for vacation‑rental accounting.

Required profile

• 5+ years of senior‑level accounting experience, preferably in the vacation‑rental sector.
• Demonstrated expertise in trust accounting, owner statements, and property‑level reporting.
• Proven track record of onboarding new clients and configuring accounting systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with QuickBooks.
• Experience using AppFolio or similar vacation‑rental accounting platforms.
