Senior Accountant – Vacation Rental Portfolio (Remote)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with direct vacation‑rental industry experience. The role supports client onboarding, streamlines accounting operations, and customises workflows for short‑term rental businesses. This is a fully remote position, primarily serving U.S. time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support client onboarding, ensuring accurate setup of accounting systems.
• Design and optimise accounting workflows tailored to each vacation‑rental client.
• Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Work with vacation‑rental platforms such as PMS, channel managers, and trust‑accounting systems.
• Maintain compliance with industry‑specific accounting standards and best practices.
• Identify process improvements and implement scalable accounting solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance efficiency and client experience.
• Act as the subject‑matter expert for vacation‑rental accounting.

Required profile

• Senior‑level accounting experience (5+ years preferred).
• Direct vacation‑rental accounting experience is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of trust accounting, owner statements, and property‑level reporting.
• Proven experience onboarding new clients and configuring accounting systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and process‑driven.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
