Security Officer - Campus Flex

About the role

Allied Universal is hiring a Security Professional Flex Officer who serves and safeguards clients in industries such as healthcare, education and finance. The officer uses a shift-pickup platform to choose open shifts according to their own availability, building a schedule that fits them while gaining site experience. Irregular shifts with little to no advance notice may be required.

Key responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
• Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in case of fire or unauthorized persons
• Warn violators of rules such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles
• Permit authorized persons to enter, monitor entrances and exits, and observe departing personnel to prevent theft
• Investigate and report accidents, incidents and suspicious activity, keeping written logs as required
• Aid customers, employees and visitors courteously and make emergency notifications per site orders

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable experience; no prior experience required
• Valid driver's license if driving a company or customer-owned vehicle
• At least 18 years old (21 if armed); licensing depends on state or local law
• Background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
• Reliable, adaptable, able to mediate conflict and work a team

Required skills

• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
• Effective oral and written communication and active listening
• Preferred: ability to speak, read and write in multiple languages (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic)
• Prior security, military or law enforcement experience preferred
