About the role
The University of Miami is seeking a Security Officer 1 to help maintain a safe campus environment in Coral Gables. The position involves monitoring facilities, controlling access, and responding to incidents to protect university assets, staff, students, and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Notify the local police department when backup is required.
- Inspect buildings, equipment, and access points for security compliance.
- Verify identity and permit entry for authorized personnel.
- Inform violators of policies, restrain trespassers, and control traffic.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, submit activity reports, and secure exits, doors, and windows after operations.
- Investigate suspicious individuals or possessions and adhere to university policies.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or equivalent (or relevant experience, certification, or license).
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant security experience.
- Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and technical proficiency with office software and related applications.
