Section Head, Critical Care Anesthesiology

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Section Head for Critical Care Anesthesiology to serve as co‑director of the Thoracic and Cardiovascular ICU at its 900‑bed tertiary‑care referral center in New Orleans. The leader will oversee a growing faculty, contribute to high‑acuity patient care, and may spend up to 30 % of time in operative anesthesiology.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Critical Care Anesthesiology faculty within the Department of Anesthesiology.
• Co‑direct the 12‑bed Thoracic and Cardiovascular ICU, managing complex cardiac surgical patients and mechanical circulatory support.
• Participate in academic activities, including teaching residents and fellows and conducting research.
• Collaborate with an interprofessional team to deliver high‑quality critical care.

Required profile

• Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
• Fellowship‑trained in Critical Care Anesthesiology or extensive experience in Cardiac Critical Care.
• Strong interest in academic medicine, research, and education.
