Scraper Operator (631/627) – Heavy Civil Construction

About the role

Ames Construction is seeking an experienced Scraper Operator to join its heavy civil and industrial teams. You will operate 631 and 627 scrapers on projects that include highways, bridges, dams, and other critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Operate 631 and 627 scrapers and other heavy equipment to move, spread, and grade materials.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections to keep equipment in optimal condition.
• Follow project plans and specifications to achieve required grades and shapes.
• Collaborate with crew members to meet project timelines and quality goals.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and report any equipment malfunctions or hazards.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Required profile

• Valid heavy‑equipment operator’s license.
• Proven experience operating scrapers, preferably 631 and 627 models.
• Strong understanding of construction and excavation processes.
• Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and safety focus.
