Scaffold Builder 1 - Carpenter (Uncertified Journey-Level)

About the role

A Scaffold Builder 1 - Carpenter (uncertified journey-level) reports to the Foreman and directs personnel in the safe execution of the site-specific scope of work outlined in the contract documents. The role also covers the associated paperwork and documentation described in the Apache manuals and programs. Heavy lifting is often required, and the work involves kneeling, squatting and climbing.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure work follows Apache, client and regulatory requirements and comply with all safety policies and programs.
• Follow the Scaffolding Foreman's directions, report potential problems, and follow verbal directions as needed.
• Inspect every scaffold component, remove defective ones, and ensure scaffolds are erected and dismantled according to industry standards, manufacturer, OSHA, Apache and client requirements.
• Inspect completed scaffolds before tagging, update scaffold tags at the start of each shift, and keep the work area clean and safe.
• Work unsupervised efficiently, communicate regularly with the Field Foreman, and cover the site in the Foreman's absence.
• Maintain reliable attendance and keep a positive attitude with crew members.

Required profile

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Carpenter in the scaffolding industry.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with Apache.
• Able to follow instructions, give clear instructions to several employees, and work efficiently.
• Able to maintain basic field equipment such as air compressors, man lifts and forklifts, and to interpret erection drawings.
• Physical demands include prolonged standing or sitting, light work moving objects up to 20 pounds, and no adverse environmental conditions.
