RN Med Surg – Night Shift

About the role

This full‑time night‑shift position leads patient care on a medical‑surgical unit at Ochsner Health. The RN uses the nursing process, follows the Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process to deliver safe, high‑quality patient care.
• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary groups.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources, serving as a leader on the unit.
• Use data and evidence‑based information to drive improvements and achieve optimal outcomes.
• Promote customer satisfaction, employee morale, and professional development within nursing.
• Adapt communication and care approaches to respect cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity.
• Perform additional duties as required to support unit operations.
• Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations and ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• No prior work experience required (entry‑level).
• Preferred: certification in a clinical specialty area.
