Revenue Accountant

About the role

Clay is in hyper‑growth mode and is building a modern, AI‑forward accounting function. As a Revenue Accountant you will own revenue recognition under ASC 606, shape processes for consumption‑based pricing, and help scale the financial infrastructure as the business expands.

Key responsibilities

• Support revenue recognition under ASC 606, focusing on consumption‑based models and new revenue streams.
• Prepare and maintain deferred and unbilled revenue schedules and ensure accurate balance‑sheet presentation each period.
• Execute month‑end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis for leadership reporting.
• Document technical accounting positions (e.g., contract modifications, material rights) and contribute to revenue systems implementation.
• Assist with the first‑year financial audit by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI and modern tooling to streamline revenue accounting and close workflows.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience with strong exposure to revenue accounting; Big Four or public accounting experience is a plus.
• Active CPA license.
• Deep knowledge of ASC 606 and US GAAP revenue principles, especially consumption‑based models.
• Comfortable working with large datasets; SQL proficiency is a strong plus.
• Excellent written communication, able to explain technical positions to auditors and business partners.
