Respiratory Therapist (PRN) – St. Bernard Parish Hospital

About the role

This position provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support to in‑patients and out‑patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric. Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures, including oxygen therapy, artificial ventilation, and airway management.
• Draw, analyze, and report arterial blood gases (ABG) and electrocardiograms (EKG).
• Deliver intermittent therapy, assist with changing artificial airways, and document all clinical information.
• Educate patients and co‑workers on procedures and treatment plans.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist and NBRCT certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data‑entry software.
• Ability to perform arterial blood gas analysis and ventilator management.
• Knowledge of oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation equipment.
