Respiratory Therapist – PRN – Days

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist on a PRN (as‑needed) basis to work day shifts at St. Bernard Parish Hospital. The role provides respiratory care, oxygen therapy, ventilation support, and diagnostic testing for patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric, both in‑patient and out‑patient.

Key responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care treatment, oxygen therapy, ventilation support, and diagnostic testing for in‑patients and out‑patients of all ages.
• Draw, analyze and report arterial blood gases and EKGs, manage artificial airways, and deliver intermittent therapy as ordered by physicians.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist and National Board certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Basic Life Support certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support to be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer data entry and Windows‑based applications.
• Knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures, oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation.
