About the role
Bureau Veritas is seeking a Resident Engineer/Inspector (REI) to act as the owner’s on‑site representative on large‑scale heavy civil infrastructure projects in New York. The role combines engineering oversight, construction management, and project leadership, requiring daily supervision of construction activities and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the owner’s on‑site representative, overseeing construction activities, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and contract documents, and conducting daily field inspections.
- Manage project schedules using Primavera P6, track budgets, forecast expenditures, review and approve change orders, and prepare regular progress reports.
- Apply professional engineering judgment to design and construction issues, mentor junior staff, conduct inspections and testing, and act as liaison between the owner and project teams.
Required profile
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York (New Jersey license preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or related engineering field.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in resident engineering, construction inspection, and project management for heavy civil projects such as bridges, tunnels, and utility relocations.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and standards.
Required skills
- Primavera P6 for project scheduling.
- Budgeting, estimating, and change‑order management.
- Construction contract administration and negotiation.
- Professional certifications such as CCM, PMP, or CWI (strongly preferred).
