Resident Coordinator

About the role

Fairstead, a real estate firm focused on affordable housing, is hiring a Resident Coordinator in Brooklyn to support and refer to a population of residents in subsidized multifamily properties. The coordinator monitors living conditions and the services residents receive, coordinates programs and services to improve residents' quality of life, and tracks their impact and effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise between Community Managers and residents to prepare them for annual recertification, helping them identify the paperwork needed.
• Act as liaison with NYCHA so annual recertifications are completed on time and meet NYCHA requirements.
• Work with management to prevent eviction of at-risk households due to non-payment or lease violations.
• Serve as primary contact for residents, non-profits and city/state agencies on programs, events and social services, and as liaison for community meetings.
• Maintain a resource directory of state and local service providers and keep records, especially sensitive files.
• Track visits and calls, handle phone calls, emails and mail, and assist clerical staff with work requests.
• Identify issues and opportunities to better serve residents and support Fairstead's mission.

Required profile

• Demonstrated volunteer and community experience.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
• Outgoing attitude, excellent customer service, listening and interpersonal skills, and strong written and oral communication.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, ability to meet tight deadlines and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Working knowledge of data tracking systems such as Family Metrics and Yardi.
