About the role

TMZ’s News Desk is seeking a proactive Research Producer to support breaking‑news coverage and story development. The role blends fast‑paced fact‑checking with deep pop‑culture knowledge, ensuring every story published on the website and TV shows meets the highest editorial standards.

Key responsibilities

• Edit, maintain and fact‑check articles for the TMZ website.
• Assist the News Desk with rapid, accurate coverage of breaking news.
• Monitor and fact‑check content for TMZ on TV, TMZ Live and TMZ Sports.
• Stay informed on global news trends and alert producers to relevant developments.
• Collaborate with writers and producers to enhance story depth and quality.
• Apply basic SEO principles to improve content visibility.
• Manage multiple time‑sensitive projects and make sound editorial judgments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field (preferred).
• 3‑5 years of professional experience in news research or a similar role.
• Strong historical knowledge of pop‑culture events and topics.
• Exceptional spelling, grammar and attention to detail.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Comfortable operating under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with LexisNexis and advanced Google search techniques.
• Experience using a content management system (CMS).
• Familiarity with Outlook, word processing and basic Microsoft Office applications.
