Research Operations Lead – Biology

About the role

Anthropic is building a world‑class Life Sciences team that merges cutting‑edge AI with hands‑on biology. As the Research Operations Lead, you will be the operational backbone that enables scientists to focus on discovery by managing lab logistics, procurement, and space.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day lab operations: ordering, inventory, equipment scheduling, consumables, shipping/receiving, and space organization.
• Develop and scale operational systems such as procurement workflows, sample tracking, equipment calibration schedules, onboarding, and SOPs.
• Coordinate facility build‑outs, moves, and equipment installations; serve as primary liaison with building management, contractors, and internal Workplace/IT teams.
• Manage the operating budget: monitor spend, run capital equipment purchases, and partner with Finance on forecasting and reporting.
• Handle vendor and supplier relationships, including CROs: source, negotiate contracts, schedule maintenance, and enforce service commitments.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing day‑to‑day operations of a life‑sciences laboratory.
• Hands‑on procurement and vendor management, including sourcing and contract negotiation.
• Demonstrated ability to track and manage an operating budget, purchase orders, and capital requests.
