Reliability Engineer Internship

About the role

The Reliability Engineer Intern will join the Reliability Center of Excellence team at Merck’s Rahway site, supporting engineering and maintenance functions across pharmaceutical manufacturing. The role offers exposure to process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control disciplines while contributing to equipment availability and asset performance.

Key responsibilities

• Execute reliability programs to improve equipment availability, reduce repeat failures and optimize lifecycle cost.
• Analyze failure data, track KPIs such as unplanned downtime, MTBF/MTTR and communicate trends.
• Develop and maintain critical spares strategies in collaboration with supply chain and OEMs.
• Assist mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering teams with troubleshooting and maintenance optimization.
• Support safety, health and environmental initiatives and supervise third‑party contractors where required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical or Instrumentation & Control Engineering (or equivalent).
• Independent, resilient and resourceful with strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Effective oral and written communication, teamwork orientation and continuous learning mindset.
