Registered Nurse – Jones Eye Institute

About the role

The Registered Nurse at the Jones Eye Institute provides and coordinates patient care, educates patients and families, and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. The RN administers medications, performs diagnostic tests, and supports patient rehabilitation while ensuring accurate medical records and compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Implements the Plan of Care using an interdisciplinary, patient‑ and family‑centered approach.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively with nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, and executive leaders.
• Documents care accurately in the medical record and reports variances in care or processes.
• Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and integrates current evidence into care.
• Provides patient and family education, discharge planning, and serves as a resource for staff.
• Participates in recruitment, retention, and professional development of UAMS employees.
• Facilitates development and implementation of evidence‑based nursing practice standards.
• Delegates care according to UAMS standards, legal requirements, and scope of practice.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Baccalaureate Degree, ADN, or Diploma in Nursing (RN degree).
• At least 1 year of RN experience with current BLS certification.
• Valid Arkansas Registered Nursing License.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), knowledge or experience in PCMH, and ACLS certification (or obtain within one year of hire).
