Reciprocating Engine Mechanic

About the role

System One is looking for an experienced Reciprocating Engine Mechanic to join its on‑site team in Red Lake, Texas. The successful candidate will work with Volvo and Caterpillar diesel and gas engines in oil‑&‑gas and power‑generation settings, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair Volvo and Caterpillar diesel and gas engines.
• Perform major overhauls and rebuilds on reciprocating engines, including power‑generation units and emissions systems.
• Execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Inspect and repair fuel, lube‑oil, cooling, ignition and air systems.
• Use OEM diagnostic software and tools to support field service operations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and service records and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Assist with commissioning and de‑commissioning of equipment and collaborate with operations teams to minimize downtime.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; technical certification preferred.
• 3‑5+ years of heavy‑duty or industrial engine experience.
• Proven hands‑on experience with Volvo and Caterpillar engines.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor, industrial and confined‑space environments.
