Real Estate Accountant – Full‑Cycle & Reporting

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with real‑estate experience to join its back‑office team. Working as an independent contractor, you will support multiple high‑growth clients by delivering accurate month‑end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for several clients, including AP/AR, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Prepare, review and analyse monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and relevant regulations, addressing discrepancies proactively.
• Perform job costing, project accounting and budget‑to‑actual analysis as required.
• Support tax compliance by preparing documentation, coordinating with external tax advisors and assisting audit requests.
• Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and internal teams, offering insights to improve financial operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to boost accuracy and scalability.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, specifically in the real‑estate sector.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and U.S. GAAP.
• Fluent English (B2+), able to communicate with high‑profile clients.
• Adaptable, detail‑oriented and able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Availability 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday to Friday.
