Program Director of Educator Preparation Clinical Initiatives

About the role

The Program Director of Educator Preparation Clinical Initiatives coordinates and supports clinical experience initiatives for teacher‑candidate programs. Reporting to the Dean of Education, the role serves as the primary liaison among school districts, the Office of Educator Certification, and university departments to ensure effective clinical placements and continuous program improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee coordination of clinical placements with K‑12 districts and educational partners across Texas.
• Serve as the main contact for mentor teachers, university field supervisors, and district personnel regarding placements, training, and documentation.
• Monitor teacher‑candidate progress, collect and analyze placement data, and report findings to support program assessment.
• Facilitate communication of Texas Education Agency policies and updates between the university and district partners.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in educator preparation, K‑12 education, field‑based teacher education, or program administration.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate and driver’s license.
• Ability to travel to partner school districts as needed.

Required skills

• Knowledge of educator preparation programs, clinical teaching requirements, and Texas Education Agency certification processes.
• Experience with data collection, reporting, and continuous‑improvement practices.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and student information systems.
