Program Associate - Food Safety

About the role

The Program Associate – Food Safety works under the Nutrition and Food Safety Specialist to support the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) team across Arkansas. This position drives statewide food safety education, home food preservation, cottage‑food entrepreneurship, and consumer outreach initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and delivering food safety and food preservation education programs.
• Coordinate training sessions and outreach activities for FCS County Extension Agents.
• Develop and update curriculum, training materials, and resources.
• Mentor extension agents and provide technical support on food safety topics.
• Collaborate with university faculty, research centers, and community partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, food science, agriculture, extension education, or a related field.
• Experience or interest in food safety education and outreach.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities.
• Willingness to travel throughout Arkansas to support county agents.
