About the role
The Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to advance research on groundwater economics and policy in the Texas High Plains. Working under Dr. Rouhi Rad, the fellow will integrate econometric analysis, hydro‑economic modeling, and policy evaluation to address aquifer depletion and water‑management challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct empirical research on groundwater demand, aquifer depletion, and water policy across Texas.
- Clean, manage, and analyze large and spatial datasets.
- Lead and contribute to the preparation of academic manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.
- Assist in the development of grant proposals and related research activities.
- Collaborate with researchers, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students, providing occasional guidance on data and methods.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a closely related field.
- Research experience in water, environmental, or resource economics.
- Familiarity with groundwater systems or agricultural production in the western United States.
- Interest in policy‑relevant research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Required skills
- Proficiency in R.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience with econometric analysis.
- Experience with hydro‑economic modeling or integrated assessment approaches.
- Ability to work with large and spatial datasets.
