Plant Operator Trainee – Wastewater Treatment

About the role

This entry‑level position supports the operation of a municipal wastewater treatment plant. Working under the direct supervision of a Lead Operator, the trainee will learn daily plant processes, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance while gaining hands‑on experience with equipment and laboratory tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Assist certified operators in monitoring gauges, meters, and control panels.
• Collect and prepare laboratory samples for analysis.
• Perform routine equipment inspections, calibrations, and preventative maintenance.
• Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, motors, and related machinery.
• Enter operational data accurately for regulatory reporting.
• Support after‑hours standby duties and respond to emergencies as directed.
• Maintain plant cleanliness and perform basic grounds‑keeping tasks.

Required profile

• Minimum 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid Florida driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lb occasionally and 20 lb frequently.
• Willingness to work shift schedules, including weekends and holidays.
