Physician-Neurosurgeon

About the role

The Ochsner Health system is seeking an experienced Physician‑Neurosurgeon to join its Lafayette campus. The role involves delivering comprehensive neurosurgical care, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the hospital’s mission of healing, education, and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Treat neurological conditions through surgeries and medication management.
• Perform a full range of neurosurgical procedures, including neuro‑oncology operations.
• Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic tests based on patient history.
• Consult with physicians, nurses, patients, and families regarding treatment plans and precautions.
• Refer patients to specialists as needed while ensuring continuity of care.
• Provide medical direction, education, and training to healthcare staff.
• Participate in administrative duties, committees, and on‑call coverage.
• Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with hospital policies.
• Develop and implement in‑service education programs for staff.
• Participate in quality improvement and research initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.).
• Active Louisiana medical license.
• Completion of an accredited neurosurgery residency.
