About the role

The Department of Colon & Rectal Surgery at Ochsner Health is seeking a full‑time, board‑certified or board‑eligible colon and rectal surgeon to join its faculty in New Orleans, LA, starting in fall 2027. The position is aimed at early‑career surgeons (less than five years post‑training) who are fellowship‑trained and eager to develop a robust colorectal surgical practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform complex open, laparoscopic, and robotic colon and rectal surgeries.
  • Develop and expand a high‑quality colon and rectal surgical practice within the department.

Required profile

  • Board‑certified or board‑eligible in colon and rectal surgery.
  • Fellowship‑trained colorectal surgeon with less than five years since completion of training.
  • Exceptional surgical skills and sound clinical judgment.
  • Strong communication abilities and a proven record of team building.

Required skills

  • Complex open colorectal surgery.
  • Laparoscopic surgical techniques.
  • Robotic surgery proficiency.
