Phlebotomist 1 – 2nd Shift (12:30 pm–9 pm)

About the role

The University of Miami UHealth Laboratories Department is seeking a full‑time Phlebotomist 1 for the 2nd shift (12:30 pm – 9:00 pm) at the U‑Tower Hospital. The role involves drawing blood, verifying patient records, and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis while providing courteous, patient‑centered care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient phlebotomy according to the department’s procedure manual.
• Prioritize hematology and oncology specimens and manage pre‑accession labeling.
• Verify patient identity using wristbands and verbal confirmation.
• Answer inquiries and resolve issues related to test requisitions, specimen requirements, and priority changes.
• Maintain inventory levels, rotate stock, and keep accurate logs and files.
• Assist the supervisor with statistical reporting and process cancellations, credits, and test additions.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomist certification and HIV certification.
• Minimum of 1 year relevant experience in a clinical or laboratory setting.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and the University’s core values.
