About the role
The Peer Trainer will design and deliver a series of workshops that equip peer specialists with the knowledge and skills needed for various crisis‑response settings. This role supports both participants in the Howie the Harp peer training program and existing peer workers seeking to expand or refine their expertise.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and annually update a curriculum of workshops covering the latest developments and best practices in NYC crisis response services.
- Conduct scheduled trainings for peer specialists and program participants.
- Complete group notes and documentation within 48 business hours of each class.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure trainings align with the organization’s self‑determination and peer‑expertise values.
Required profile
- Commitment to Community Access’s mission and philosophy.
- New York State Peer Certification (or obtain within the first year of employment).
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong analytical ability and capacity to prioritize deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication, public speaking, group facilitation and conflict‑resolution skills.
