Payload Integration Engineer

About the role

Seasats’ unmanned surface vessels (USVs) operate at sea for months, carrying diverse payloads. The Payload Integration Engineer ensures payloads are correctly integrated, tested, and documented from early development through production.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and testing to evaluate payload capabilities.
• Design electrical systems, components, and products.
• Translate customer requirements into detailed payload specifications.
• Coordinate with engineers to develop test hardware, wiring harnesses, and mechanical interfaces.
• Manage requirements, system integration, test plan development, and execution across all development phases.
• Develop test plans and documentation such as user manuals, integration guides, and troubleshooting guides.
• Troubleshoot integration issues across electrical, software, and system boundaries.
• Support the transition of payloads from R&D into production, including test setup and data handling workflows.
• Serve as the technical point of contact for payload questions.

Required profile

• Independent, proactive engineer who owns problems and sees projects through.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical, mechanical, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience building, assembling, or testing hardware systems.
• Familiarity with PCBAs and basic electronics assembly or testing.
• Programming experience in C or C++ for test scripts or embedded tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow and improve documented procedures.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. person status as defined by export control laws.
