Patent Litigation Counsel

About the role

Nixon Peabody is seeking an experienced Patent Litigation Counsel to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group in one of several major U.S. markets. The successful candidate will lead complex patent disputes from inception through trial, appeal, and settlement, working closely with clients to protect and leverage their IP assets.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all phases of patent litigation, including pleadings, discovery, Markman hearings, trial, and appellate work.
• Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and other court filings.
• Prepare infringement and invalidity claim charts and conduct claim construction proceedings.
• Coordinate fact and expert discovery specific to patent matters.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies that align with client business objectives.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years of experience in patent litigation.
• Demonstrated ability to handle high‑stakes, complex cases.
• Strong judgment, communication skills, and a self‑starter attitude.
• Experience working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
