Part-Time Primary Care Physician – Santa Maria Health Center

About the role

The County of Santa Barbara Health Department is seeking a dedicated and compassionate physician to join its Primary Care team at the Santa Maria Health Center. This part‑time (0.5 FTE) position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive primary care services to the community while working within a supportive public‑health environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient histories, physical examinations, and clinical assessments.
• Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic tests.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, perform procedures, and refer patients to specialists as needed.
• Manage ongoing case coordination and follow‑up care.
• Perform administrative duties to support clinic operations and program compliance.

Required profile

• Current, unrestricted medical license in California.
• Board certification or eligibility in primary care (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics).
• Ability to work independently with strong clinical judgment.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care.
• Willingness to serve the County’s diverse population; bilingual ability is a plus.
