Part-time Math Instructor – Adult Education

About the role

Join Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas as a Part‑time Math Instructor in the Adult Education department. You will teach foundational and secondary‑level mathematics to adult learners preparing for their GED and help them develop essential numeracy skills for workforce and further education.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver instruction in arithmetic, fractions, decimals, ratios, algebra, geometry, and data analysis.
• Prepare students for GED mathematics assessments.
• Develop lesson plans aligned with state adult education standards and measurable learning objectives.
• Incorporate contextualized instruction such as math for workforce, financial literacy, and college readiness.
• Utilize varied instructional strategies, including direct instruction, collaborative learning, and technology‑assisted learning.
• Use assessment data to adjust instruction and support diverse learners, including those with learning differences.
• Provide academic advising related to math achievement goals.
• Maintain attendance and performance documentation and ensure compliance with adult education policies and funding requirements.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and program evaluation activities.

Required profile

• Knowledge of adult learning theory.
• Experience preparing adult learners for GED examinations.
• Ability to support diverse learners and students with learning differences.
