Palliative Medicine Physician – Southeast Louisiana

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Palliative Medicine Physician to join its Southeast Louisiana team. The physician will provide an extra layer of support to patients with serious illness across inpatient, outpatient and post‑acute settings.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct consultations in inpatient units, embedded oncology clinics, freestanding outpatient clinics and post‑acute facilities (LTACH, rehab, SNF).
• Manage symptoms and develop written plans of care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Facilitate goals‑of‑care conversations with patients and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Participate in process‑improvement initiatives, specialty team meetings and serve as a collaborating physician for advanced practice providers.
• Utilize the EPIC electronic health record system across all Ochsner facilities.

Required profile

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Palliative Medicine.
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and with advanced practice providers.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the EPIC electronic health record system.
• General electronic health record (EHR) competency.
