Pain Fellowship Program Director/Interventional Pain Physician

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a physician leader to direct its award‑winning ACGME‑accredited Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship. The position combines clinical practice across outpatient and peri‑operative settings with protected academic time to mentor fellows and advance the service line.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship at Ochsner Health Center – Elmwood and Ochsner Medical Complex – Clearview.
• Oversee fellowship administration, including budget management, scheduling, and reporting.
• Provide comprehensive interventional and chronic pain care while expanding the referral network.
• Collaborate with system service‑line leadership and multidisciplinary teams to integrate data‑informed care.
• Participate in establishing the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine curriculum and mentorship programs.

Required profile

• Board‑certified/board‑eligible Anesthesiologist or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physician.
• Board certification in Pain Medicine and fellowship training in Interventional Pain Management.
• Minimum two years of faculty experience in a pain fellowship program, preferably in an academic leadership role.
• Demonstrated interest in chronic pain management, teaching, and research productivity.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships across a growing referral network.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Interventional Pain Management techniques.
• Experience with academic program administration and ACGME accreditation processes.
