Outside Operations Manager – Installation & Repairs

About the role

Douglas Fast Net is expanding its fiber network across Lane County and needs an experienced Outside Operations Manager to lead installation and repair teams. You will oversee residential and commercial projects, ensure safety and quality, and act as the primary liaison between field crews and internal departments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day activities of the outside plant team, including scheduling and resource allocation.
• Ensure installations, maintenance work, and network repairs meet DFN safety and quality standards.
• Monitor open service orders and drive timely completion.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and other departments to align projects with business goals.
• Develop and maintain project documentation and oversee contractor performance.
• Meet with customers, business owners, stakeholders, and government officials to discuss network planning and resolve issues.
• Identify and implement process improvements for team efficiency.
• Enforce compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and industry safety standards.
• Take after‑hours and weekend calls as needed and operate company vehicles safely.
• Train, onboard, coach, and evaluate field technicians and other staff.

Required profile

• 5+ years of outside plant construction experience, preferably in telecommunications.
• Management experience preferred; ability to lead and develop a technical team.
• Strong project‑management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with engineers, contractors, senior executives, and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of fiber optic networks, transmission poles, conduits, and related infrastructure.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations governing outside plant facilities.
• Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
• Physical ability to perform medium‑level field work, with reasonable accommodations if needed.
