Operations and Customer Quality Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Operations and Customer Quality Engineer to lead daily quality reviews, manage non‑conforming material processes and drive corrective actions across manufacturing, supplier and logistics functions in Austin, TX.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily MRRT reviews, prioritize quality notifications (QNs), DMRs and manufacturing excursions.
• Review and validate defect information, failure descriptions and supplier data, and drive timely containment actions.
• Facilitate ownership assignment for quality issues across supplier, manufacturing, logistics, NPI and engineering teams.
• Track corrective actions through closure, monitor DMR aging, backlog and cycle‑time reduction metrics.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of non‑conforming material processes, MRB, MRRT, DMR, QN, SCAR and 8D methodologies.
• Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, supplier quality management and corrective‑action processes.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams, influence decisions without direct authority and communicate technical issues clearly.
• Experience balancing quality requirements with production throughput, customer commitments and business objectives.

Required skills

• SAP (quality notification and material control).
• Data analysis and trend identification.
