About the role
The Oncology Nurse Surveyor, also known as an RN Field Representative, travels nationwide to evaluate acute‑care oncology facilities for compliance with Joint Commission standards. This role blends clinical expertise with quality‑improvement analysis to help health‑care organizations enhance patient safety and regulatory adherence.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct on‑site surveys of health‑care organizations across the United States, observing clinical practices, emergency procedures, and facility operations.
- Apply systems analysis and inductive reasoning to assess compliance with applicable standards and identify systemic vulnerabilities.
- Engage organization staff in interactive dialogues to clarify standards‑based issues and recommend improvement opportunities.
- Prepare detailed management reports linking identified deficiencies to potential risks and system gaps.
- Communicate findings constructively to senior leadership and participate in additional Joint Commission activities as assigned.
Required profile
- Graduate of an approved nursing school with a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Current, unrestricted RN license in the United States.
- Minimum five years recent health‑care experience, including at least three years of direct acute‑care oncology nursing.
- At least two years of accreditation, certification leadership, or senior management experience.
- Direct involvement in two Joint Commission surveys and solid knowledge of Joint Commission standards.
- Strong critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
