Nurse Surveyor – CDPH

About the role

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is seeking a qualified Nurse Surveyor to conduct inspections, investigations, and evaluations of health facilities across the state. This position ensures compliance with licensing, certification, and federal regulations while supporting continuous improvement in patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site inspections and surveys of hospitals, nursing homes, and other health facilities.
• Investigate complaints and assess compliance with state and federal health statutes.
• Provide guidance to facility administrators on licensing and certification requirements.
• Document findings, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Travel extensively throughout California and may work under a hybrid telework schedule.

Required profile

• Valid Registered Nursing (RN) license in California.
• Experience in clinical nursing, health‑care quality, or regulatory inspection preferred.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal health regulations.
• Ability to work independently and communicate findings clearly.
