Nuclear Medicine Physician – Full/Part Time

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking board‑certified nuclear medicine physicians to join its growing Nuclear Medicine section in New Orleans. The position offers both full‑time and part‑time options and includes clinical, academic, and leadership responsibilities across multiple hospitals and outpatient sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daytime coverage for outpatient and inpatient diagnostic nuclear medicine and PET/CT examinations, as well as therapeutic procedures at Ochsner’s South Shore hospitals and urgent‑care centers.
• Supervise residents and fulfill academic duties at Ochsner Medical Center New Orleans – Jefferson Highway.
• Participate in weekend and late‑shift coverage if dual‑board certified in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine; otherwise, no after‑hours requirement.
• Collaborate with emergency radiologists for after‑hours ED coverage and with interventional radiologists for IR coverage.
• Potentially assume section‑head leadership responsibilities for qualified candidates.

Required profile

• Board‑certified/eligible physician with completed nuclear medicine fellowship and American Board of Nuclear Medicine certification.
• Eligibility for dual certification (American Board of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine) is preferred for additional coverage duties.
• Willingness to work in an academic, tertiary/quaternary medical center environment.

Required skills

• Diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging, including PET/CT.
• Therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures.
• Operation of cyclotron‑produced radiopharmaceuticals.
• Resident education and supervision.
