About the role
Join Google’s Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team to design and develop custom silicon solutions that power the company’s direct‑to‑consumer products. As a Mechanical Product Design Engineer you will work across the full product lifecycle, from concept through high‑volume manufacturing, delivering hardware that meets demanding performance, power and cost targets.
Key responsibilities
- Identify flaws and issues in hardware components and propose corrective actions.
- Apply best‑practice optimization techniques to complex or constrained hardware designs.
- Document design decisions, implementation details, and test/validation results throughout the product lifecycle.
- Review hardware artifacts such as block diagrams, schematics, layouts, bills of materials, algorithms, protocols, and link budgets to anticipate risks.
- Analyze trade‑offs, resolve key technical issues, and suggest solutions for common hardware failures.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- At least 2 years of experience in a mechanical design engineering environment, or 1 year with an advanced degree.
- Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
