Mechanical Process Engineer Co-Op (Spring 2027)

About the role

Blair Rubber Co., a manufacturer and supplier of roofing membranes, ancillary products and rubber linings, is offering a full-time, paid Mechanical Process Engineer Co-Op for Spring 2027 in Seville, Ohio. The position sits in Plant Operations and is open to students who live locally in Ohio; relocation assistance is not available.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering projects using sound design principles.
• Work with the operations team to identify and implement safety and production continuous improvement initiatives.
• Create work instructions and perform job hazard analyses on the production floor.
• Participate in safety improvements for equipment and continuous quality improvement for processes.
• Create layouts and process diagrams to support standardization and continuous improvement.
• Analyze jobs and tasks to identify hazards and recommend product improvement solutions.
• Help ensure site compliance with corporate process standards, including preparing for the annual corporate process audit and following up on audit issues.
• Work in an office environment with limited exposure to the production floor, where rubber, adhesives, grease, oils, carbon black, steam and industrial manufacturing machines are used.

Required profile

• Sophomore, junior or senior majoring in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to learn ERP software and other ancillary software, and good general computer knowledge.
• Comfortable with prolonged standing, using tools and repetitive bending and stooping, and with good hand dexterity.
• Strong communication, organizational and time-management skills, problem-solving ability and teamwork.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems and take initiative.
