Manufacturing Engineer – 2nd Shift

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to work the 2nd shift (Monday‑Thursday, 4 pm‑2:30 am) in Kalispell, MT. You will develop and maintain manufacturing methods, operating sequences, and processes for parts, sub‑assemblies and final assemblies while collaborating with design, operations, quality and supplier teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve work instructions, process flows, build layouts and assembly procedures.
• Coordinate product improvements and resolve manufacturing issues with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Create and manage engineering change requests, assessing impacts on bills of material, drawings and production.
• Apply DFx, lean manufacturing and continuous‑improvement principles to reduce cost and waste.
• Estimate manufacturing costs, establish time standards and recommend tooling, fixturing and test equipment.
• Perform root‑cause and failure‑mode analysis, driving corrective‑action plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• 1–3 years of engineering or manufacturing experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective time‑management and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Ability to work the 2nd‑shift schedule.

Required skills

• Lean manufacturing and DFx methodologies.
• Experience with PLM/PDM systems, SAP and CAD platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, Tableau and Visio.
• Knowledge of continuous‑improvement tools and techniques.
