Manager, Translational Informatics Platform Architecture

About the role

The University of Miami's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks a full‑time Manager to lead the Translational Informatics Platform Architecture. This senior leader will oversee software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and security compliance for the center's clinical data platform supporting cancer research and patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams of software, DevSecOps, cloud, and platform engineers.
• Design, provision, and manage Microsoft Azure infrastructure including AKS, Key Vault, Monitor, Log Analytics, Container Registry, and Immutable Blob Storage.
• Establish Infrastructure‑as‑Code standards, GitOps workflows, and automated drift detection.
• Define and enforce DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and software supply‑chain security.
• Implement HIPAA/HITECH security controls, conduct risk assessments, and ensure audit readiness for systems handling PHI.
• Provide strategic direction for software architecture, microservices, APIs, data pipelines, and multi‑tenant platform governance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience leading software engineering and cloud platform teams.
• Proven ability to manage complex, regulated healthcare IT environments.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with clinical, research, and compliance stakeholders.

Required skills

• Microsoft Azure cloud services (AKS, Key Vault, Monitor, Log Analytics, Container Registry, Immutable Blob Storage).
• Kubernetes orchestration and containerization.
• DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipeline development, and GitOps.
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates).
• HIPAA/HITECH compliance and security engineering.
• Microservices architecture, APIs, and data pipeline integration.
