Maintenance Mechanic – Bartow FL

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our Bartow, Florida plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on a wide range of plant and mining equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair machinery such as pumps, fans, turbines, gearboxes, conveyors and large rotating equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to established job plans and manufacturer standards.
• Utilize hand tools, torches, welding equipment, pneumatic and electric tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Execute lock‑out/tag‑out, PPE, confined‑space, hot‑work and other safety procedures.
• Enter work requests and completion data into the CMMS.
• Participate in safety meetings, provide feedback on workflow, and assist with equipment isolation permits.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (preferred) and/or an associate degree in a vocational field such as Millwright, Pipefitter, Boilermaker, Machinist or Welding.
• At least 4 years of industrial mechanical experience or completion of an accredited apprenticeship.
• Experience in the phosphate industry is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools, torches, welding equipment, pneumatic and electric tools.
• Ability to read and use precision measuring tools.
• Knowledge of pumps, fans, turbines, gearboxes, piping, fabrication, conveyors and large rotating equipment.
• Familiarity with lock‑out/tag‑out, PPE, CMMS, and safety procedures.
• Capability to operate overhead cranes, boom trucks, forklifts and aerial man‑lifts (training may be provided).

• Class B Maintenance Mechanic – $33.72 per hour.
