Locksmith

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Locksmith to install, repair, replace and maintain locks and to open locks without keys by picking, impressing, drilling and duplicating keys. The schedule is 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday. The position is safety-sensitive and involves occasional to regular physical work, including lifting more than 50 pounds with help.

Key responsibilities

• Install, adjust, service, maintain and repair combination door locks, door strikes, locks on file cabinets, desks and other furniture, and mortise, rim and key locks
• Adjust door hinges, closures and frames, and check preventive maintenance on locks and hardware
• Repair or replace worn tumblers, springs and other parts, and reinstall them
• Change combinations, vaults and doors; duplicate keys and keep accurate records of key and lock assignments
• Design key bypass systems, perform master key and re-keying, and service emergency devices such as panic bars
• Help develop maintenance schedules, assist contractors, respond to emergency calls and follow safety and quality procedures

Required profile

• High school, technical school, apprenticeship or trade school graduate or equivalent
• Two or more years as a Certified Locksmith
• Top Secret US Government security clearance (US citizenship required)
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a DCJS Private Security Registration within one year
• Willingness to work rotational shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays
• Drug-free workplace; drug screening required

Required skills

• One of: Registered Locksmith, Certified Professional Locksmith, Medico Factory Certified Unican, Yale I.C. or Kaba MAS X-10 factory certification
• Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions
• Preferred: recognized locksmith apprenticeship, four years of carpentry experience installing doors and frames
