Lead Security Officer

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Public Safety is seeking a full‑time Lead Security Officer to provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff, visitors and patients across campus facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Control building access, property removal and respond to alarm signals, including vehicle protection in university parking.
• Maintain civil order, prevent fire, theft and other damage, and monitor electrical or utility system failures.
• Detect, report and remediate campus safety problems, escort unauthorized individuals or involve police as needed.
• Provide training, mentorship and performance guidance to new and existing security officers.
• Prepare accurate, timely incident reports and serve as shift supervisor in the absence of the Shift Supervisor.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of relevant security experience.
• Valid Florida driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as required.
• Strong judgment, communication skills and ability to handle confidential information.
