Law Clerk - Trusts & Estates

About the role

A Trusts & Estates law firm in its Coral Gables office is hiring a Law Clerk. The position is in person and not work from home. Mentors give instruction and feedback on assignments and encourage summer law clerks to explore estate planning and estate administration law, with a wide range of assignments such as interacting with clients during estate planning or drafting petitions for probate hearings.

Key responsibilities

• Draft legal documents, including memos, briefs and pleadings under attorney supervision to meet court deadlines and client needs.
• Research using Westlaw or LexisNexis.
• Organize and maintain legal files, track important deadlines and schedule appointments and court appearances.
• Communicate professionally with clients, witnesses and court personnel to gather information, schedule meetings and update them on case progress.
• Update legal resources, attend legal education seminars and stay current on changes in laws and regulations.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a law school and at least completed the 1L year.
• Detail-oriented and committed to the firm's core values: Hungry, Scrappy, Smart, Anti-Fragile and Take Ownership.

Required skills

• Ability to research on Westlaw or LexisNexis.
• Writing sample required with the application.
