Labor & Delivery Surgical Technician (PRN)

About the role

The Labor and Delivery Surgical Technician provides essential support for endoscopy and surgical procedures in the obstetrics and labor unit. This PRN position ensures equipment and supplies are ready, assists the RN, and helps maintain a safe, sterile environment for patients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organize equipment and supplies based on the surgery schedule.
• Scrub for surgical procedures and assist with endoscopy cases.
• Perform direct patient‑care duties and communicate needs to patients, families, and staff.
• Adapt to rapid changes in unit census, patient acuity, and resource availability.

Required profile

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or military program (online programs not accepted) OR 5 years surgical technologist experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.

Required skills

• Expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques.
• Knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures.
• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
