Knowledge Engineering Lead

About the role

The Knowledge Engineering Lead will serve as a senior manager and individual contributor driving digital modernization, process intelligence, semantic orchestration, and AI/ML readiness for a USAFRICOM Directorate. The role blends strategic advisory duties with hands‑on workflow automation and ontology development.

Key responsibilities

• Advise senior leadership (O‑6/SES) on digital modernization, workflow optimization, and knowledge‑engineering strategy while mentoring knowledge engineers.
• Map, baseline, and digitize command workflows, converting manual processes into automated digital workflows using Agile practices.
• Design and maintain minimum viable ontologies (OWL, RDF, SKOS) and apply enterprise metadata, taxonomy, and content‑modeling standards.
• Train knowledge managers and end users on metadata practices, deliver outreach demos, and oversee contractor work packages and MVP increments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (mandatory) and 10+ years of experience in knowledge management, process engineering, or related fields.
• Proven cross‑functional leadership in DoW/IC environments and hands‑on experience with workflow automation platforms such as Microsoft 365 or ServiceNow.
• Experience with metadata, taxonomy, ontology concepts, and ability to drive change with senior stakeholders.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for Top‑Secret/SCI clearance.
