About the role
The School District of Buffalo is seeking a qualified JROTC Instructor to lead the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at Hutchinson Central Technical High School for the 2026‑27 school year. The instructor will deliver the JROTC curriculum, foster character development, and support cadet participation in co‑curricular activities.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and manage the JROTC curriculum and program requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise co‑curricular activities such as drill meets, military ball, encampments, and honor guard duties.
- Oversee property management, budgeting, and fundraising for the JROTC unit.
- Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Develop thematic units and projects that integrate with other content areas.
- Instruct approximately 180 hours of character development material in classroom and laboratory settings.
- Advise and evaluate extracurricular teams, including drill, physical training, and academic challenge squads.
- Mentor cadets, support leadership development, and promote cadet involvement in school activities.
Required profile
- Current certification in accordance with JROTC rules and regulations.
- Non‑commissioned officer (E6‑E9) or commissioned officer (O‑3 to O‑6) rank from any U.S. military branch.
- Demonstrated experience serving in the military and certified as a JROTC instructor by the appropriate service.
- Ability to work under the direction of the school principal and the Director of Career and Technical Education.
Required skills
- Knowledge of JROTC curriculum standards and instructional methods.
- Experience planning and executing military‑style events and drills.
- Budget and property management capabilities.
- Strong assessment and evaluation techniques for student performance.
